About me

Here is some information regarding my background and experience: I initially worked with The Regional Affective Disorders Service (RADS) as a Staff Nurse in 2010. This is a specialist/tertiary service situated in the UK providing both outpatient and inpatient care for patients with difficult to treat mood disorders. Following this I changed roles and moved on to be a Community Psychiatric Nurse. As a Community Psychiatric Nurse I provided specialist advice for adults aged 18-65 years old who experienced severe to complex mental health difficulties and required a period of assessment and treatment. I liaised with a number of professionals including doctors, nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Support Workers including Peer Support Workers. I completed both home visits and appointments within base. These appointments looked at tailored treatment plans with a main focus of helping patients achieve a stable meaningful life again. I then moved roles again and began working as a Therapist again within the NHS. Initially I was a Primary Care Mental Health Worker. During this role I worked alongside patients who have a Common Mental Health Problem. This helped patients with social functioning and physical health. Within this role I provided a wide range of psychological interventions. After this role I felt the next step would be to become a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist I currently work with clients to help them identify unique patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Once we have a shared understanding of what is maintaining their problem, then we can work together to find alternative ways of thinking about things and responding to situations, in order to improve the way they feel. Alongside becoming a CBT Therapist I then trained further within EMDR working with Clients who have suffered trauma/complex trauma and continue to be both a CBT and EMDR Therapist to date.
