I'm a CBT psychotherapist with experience in Mindfulness, ACT and Compassion Focused therapy and an interest in working with Neurodiversity. My focus is on collaboration and adapting therapy to you.
Book a sessionI’ve worked in a range of NHS mental health services in the UK for over 30 years with the last 15 years being in an NHS Talking Therapies service in London. I work with people experiencing Depression and Anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety, OCD, PTSD, etc, as well those with difficulties related to self-esteem and body image. It's important to ensure therapy is adapted to the individual and I have a particular interest in working with neurodiverse individuals and making sure therapy is just as accessible and beneficial for them as anyone else. Collaboration is a key aspect of my therapy style. We work together to understand your difficulty with acceptance and warmth. A little humour can also help with the challenge of confronting difficulties and fears. I also like to get an understanding of the person beyond the difficulty as this can help ensure that progress stays focussed on what's most meaningful for you. The foundation of my therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, from this base I bring in Mindfulness based therapy, Acceptance & Commitment therapy, Compassion focus therapy and Solution focussed therapy. Prior to my 15 years as a psychotherapist I was a psychiatric nurse which brings a broad understanding of people's wellbeing experience. A positive and supportive therapeutic relationship is important for therapy, to empower you to be open and take the risks which therapy will inevitably ask. Words on a page will only go so far, to know if any therapist is the right for you needs a personal interaction. If anything above resonates with you, reach out to see if we might help you move forward.
