I'm a Clinical Psychologist who has worked in the NHS for the last 15 years, with a particular interest in supporting children and adults who are living with physical health conditions.
Book a sessionI currently work at Great Ormond Street Hospital, supporting children and their families. Whilst I do work with children to help them live with and manage an aspect of their condition (e.g. procedural anxiety) or support them with understanding and making sense of their health condition, much of my clinical work is with adults. In sessions I offer people emotional support which is compassionate and non-judgemental, working towards goals which are meaningful to the person. This may be a parent requesting help with a particular parenting dilemma or for support with managing a behaviour that they find challenging in their child. Others may use sessions to reflect on their identity and how this may have shifted since becoming a parent, or difficulties that may have arisen in relationships with their partner or child. Others may meet with me as they are experiencing acute stress or burnout, or wanting help after a particularly distressing event which they want support to process. In my NHS work, many people I meet with are living with life limiting conditions or already grieving the loss of a child or other family member, and supporting people living with grief and uncertainty is a core aspect of my day to day role. I approach my work drawing on a variety of therapeutic models, in particular compassion focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, as well as Narrative and Systemic approaches. I am EMDR trained, which is a specialist treatment for people who have experienced trauma. During sessions I hope to work with people to identify their strengths, resources and hopes from sessions and work towards goals which are meaningful for them.
