Book a sessionI specialise in working with adults (16+) across the entire life cycle stage who are experiencing a range of complex mental health and physical health difficulties. I have specialist training in working with long-term physical health conditions. I am an Honorary Recognised Teacher at Liverpool University’s Division of Clinical Psychology training programme. I am accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and adept in multiple psychological therapy approaches. My approach is based on the belief that day-to-day living can and often does involve having to deal with and come into contact with uncomfortable and unpleasant experiences – thoughts, feelings, physical sensations - and the level of psychological distress caused is determined by how we approach and respond to these experiences. I am a compassionate, warm and approachable individual who is passionate about helping clients learn practical evidence-based, psychologically informed techniques and strategies to improve their quality of life and mental and physical wellbeing. Before training as a Clinical Psychologist, I have worked in various roles in healthcare, such as a mental health community support worker, assistant psychologist and occupational therapy assistant. These roles have spanned a range of services from NHS, private sector, corporate, community and hospital settings. This broad range of clinical experience has enabled me to become an expert in the area of Adult Mental Health where I can apply specialist knowledge, understanding and skills in my therapeutic work. I am proficient in several evidence-based approaches and possess specialist training in the areas of supervision, leadership and working with long-term physical health conditions. I have a keen interest in Mindfulness and uses this approach both in my personal life as well in my clinical practice. I have published research articles in the areas of parenting and mental health.
