Book a sessionThe model I use for my work is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but I also believe that ideas from other approaches can be used in an integrative manner if they benefit the patient. My style when providing therapy is empathetic and warm, and my patients frequently comment that they find it easy to talk to me. I believe that by noticing patterns and learning techniques, we can change unhelpful patterns of behaviour and thought, and that this can help people feel less distressed and can enable them to fulfil their potential. I can provide therapy in both English and Spanish. I am a clinical psychologist and registered member of both the Health and Care Professions Council UK and the British Psychological Society. I am also an accredited CBT Therapist by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. I have worked 15 years in the NHS in a range of services, including primary care and specialist services, and for 11 years at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust and King’s College Hospital in London. I have ample experience working with people with depression and a range of anxiety problems, people who experience stress and with people who moved countries and feel uprooted and struggle with a new culture and way of life. A particular area of interest for me is health psychology: I have worked extensively with people with emotional problems as a consequence of developing a health issue, after working at King's College Hospital in the Department of Psychological Medicine and Orthopaedics. I am very interested in the link between body and mind and how both influence each other. I also have experience working with people with persistent physical symptoms and syndromes such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, non-cardiac chest pain and chronic fatigue. I can offer therapy in both Spanish and English.
