Book a sessionShe has a particular interest in the relationship between trauma and mental health and is trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). She mainly works using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) but also draws on other models including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), systemic and compassion focused therapies. She's interested in helping clients be the best version of themselves and supporting them to challenge what's stopping them and keeping them stuck. She believes that everyone needs help at points in their life, and being able to recognise this and respond to this can help transform lives. Karen works collaboratively with clients and draws on a range of approaches, choosing what best fits for them. She believes the therapeutic relationship is key andis a warm and reflective practitioner. Karen is a senior Clinical Psychologist specialising in severe and enduring mental health problems. She has worked in the NHS for over 12 years with a variety of presentations. Karen started her career working at the Royal Marsden Hospitals supporting clients around adjusting to cancer diagnosis, to end of life. She then worked with children, families and parental mental health before moving into addiction services with a particular interest in supporting families with drug and alcohol problems. From there she developed an interest in working with psychosis and her current role in a community mental health team involves working with severe and enduring mental health difficulties including personality disorder, depression, anxiety, psychosis and trauma. Karen also has experience working with mild to moderate problems including adjustment difficulties, managing transitions, stress, self esteem issues and bereavement.
