About me

Emma believes building a collaborative therapeutic relationship with clients is the foundation to psychological change. She knows it can be difficult to reach out for support and through compassion and curiosity she aims to help people to make sense of their emotional life and patterns of behaviour, supporting them to work towards their goals. Emma is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS). She is an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist registered with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP). Emma is also a qualified Mindfulness Teacher with the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA). Emma has over 25 years’ experience working with people from a wide range of backgrounds. She has worked within a variety of organisations including the NHS, Private Companies, Charities and in Private Practice. Issues she has commonly worked with are anxiety difficulties (including generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias, health anxiety and social anxiety), mood problems (including depression and recurrent depression), trauma (including acute stress reactions, post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic grief), stress and adjustment disorders, including acute stress as a result of life events, including relationships, work and loss. Emma also has experience of working with people who are managing long term health conditions. Emma has trained in a range of approaches but specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness Based Approaches.
