About me

I have over six years of experience working as a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology for a Scottish health board and I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). During this time, I have gained experience in a wide range of common mental health disorders. I have particular interest in single event trauma, such as road traffic accidents, phobias such as fear of flying, social anxiety and low self esteem. My bespoke approach is guided by your own needs and goals for therapy and I am here to help you achieve them in a safe, non-judgemental and empathic environment. I use a formulation based, holistic approach to therapy. This means that we can explore all the different possible causes, triggers and maintaining factors for your current difficulties, to find exit points in vicious cycles of negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours and to create a personalised treatment plan. My sessions are online, usually weekly and include between-session tasks to help you to apply your learning to everyday life. I have a Master's degree in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care from the Universities of Dundee and Stirling. My interest in psychology started during my Bachelor's degree at the University of Leicester. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which helps people to identify their own unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and to apply the right tools to achieve their treatment goals. As a registered member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), I work to high ethical and professional standards. I also provide clinical supervision to trainee CBT therapists. I understand how daunting it is to take the first step and reach out to someone unfamiliar and to share your thoughts and feelings but rest assured, I am here to work beside you and develop a trusting partnership.
