How we work is decided upon together, following a detailed assessment and a shared understanding of difficulties and goals.
Book a sessionThe most important element to my therapeutic approach has been to listen, empathise and let someone one know that I have heard their story. This allows me to then work alongside clients and apply psychological theory and evidence-based interventions in order to overcome their current difficulties. I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am a member of the BPS Faculty of Complex Mental Health and I have undertaken additional training in clinical supervision. I completed my Psychology Doctorate at Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology, Canterbury Christ Church University in 2006 and have over 15 years experience working therapeutically across the lifespan with individuals experiencing different types of distress. I have used a wide range of therapeutic models and with individuals, groups and families. I have additional postgraduate qualifications in systemic therapy and CBT. My support of others has shown me that mental distress can happen to anyone of us and there is real value in seeking help. Therapy may be difficult at first, but it can bring clarity and understanding to complex situations. At HelloSelf I offer CBT, including Compassion Focused Therapy. I also have experience in trauma focused work particularly EMDR.
