I feel it's important to take the time to look after our own mental health and wellbeing, as this means we can be our best selves which will enable us live a fulfilling, meaningful life. I'm experienced in working with a wide range of anxiety disorders in addition to depression and eating disorders. (please see my expertise section for a comprehensive list) I'm also experienced in using third wave approaches (such as mindfulness, compassion focused therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. Due to my own experiences with mental health difficulties I feel that I have a unique insight into the experiences of those that I support which enables me to be honest yet empathetic. I've worked in a variety of mental health settings since age 16, and been a CBT therapist for over 7 years. My clinical experience has provided a wealth of knowledge, and I take great pride in maintaining competence to practice and continued skills development via CPD events and attending regular supervision. I'm fully qualified and accredited with the BABCP which means I adhere to and follow the competences and ethical values that the BABCP expect of their members. I also work in the NHS as a senior CBT therapist. I always say this at the start of an individual's recovery journey; "I will never ask you to do something that I :- 1. would not be prepared to do myself 2. that I haven't already done with someone in the past 3. would do first to help you gain the confidence to try it out or do with you at that moment. I am here with you every step of the way during your recovery journey and there will be blips in the road - but this is okay. Everything that happens in therapy is learning and sometimes setbacks teach us more about ourselves!"
