About me

Over her career, spanning more than 28 years, Ann has gained expertise in a number of areas, such as mood disorders, anxiety, phobias, relationship issues, trauma, etc., and specialises in working with survivors of sexual abuse and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Ann uses a range of therapies including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy, (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), brief solution focused therapy, & Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and can provide both short and long term treatments based upon need. She works with individuals, couples, and groups to promote and encourage psychological well being and to help people gain a sense of fulfilment and achievement in their life and to develop skills and understanding to manage emotional upsets and distress. Dr Ann Galloway is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with extensive clinical experience and a breadth and depth of knowledge and skill. She completed her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne University in 1992, before undertaking her PhD, also at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, whilst working as a clinician within the NHS. Before training as a Clinical Psychologist Ann was a qualified nurse with several years of experience working within general hospital settings. Ann worked as a clinical psychologist for many years and was also the Director of a University Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Training Course before leaving for New Zealand in 2004. She continued to practice as a Clinical Psychologist in New Zealand, both in private practice and for a District Health Board. Ann was also a Psychology Advisor to New Zealand’s Accident Compensation Corporation and provided consultation and treatment for people with physical injures, abuse histories, medical misadventures and much more. Since returning to the UK Ann has worked within the NHS most recently as the Clinical Director for Psychological Services within her local NHS Board. Ann is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS). She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and remains a Registered Clinical Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychology Board.
